DASKA - Newly appointed Gepco Executive Engineer Daska Muhammad Rafiq Iqbal has suspended from service eight officials including meter inspector Hameedullah Cheema, line superintendents Muhammad Malik, Zubair, meter readers Abdul Qayyum, Muhammad Ikram and admin officer Ghulam Abbas  for corruption through the overbilling.

The XEN has also issued the show cause notices to 10 other employees namely Samiullah, Ali Umair, Shehbaz Ahmed, Muhammad Ilyas, Azahr Anwar Majeed, Muhammad Ashfaq, Muhammad Munawar, Nadeem Saleem, Qamar Shehzad and Liaqat Maseeh for their alleged slackness and negligence in their officials duties.

A high level probing team has also started a strict departmental inquiry against the suspended Gepco officials.

STUDENTS FEES PLUNDERED: Sialkot A shopkeeper employee, Saeed, allegedly embezzled Rs1 million by fraud. He had not deposited the admission fees of candidates to the bank prescribed by the Allama Iqbal Open University.

The accused issued fake bank receipts to the affected candidates. On the report of his employer, the Hajipura police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, scores of affected candidates strongly protested against the fraud.

They have urged the AIOU management to take serious action against the said stationer advising him to compensate them.

They said that the academic years of the several candidates have been wasted, as the accused did not deposit their class admission fees and examination fees, due to which the affected candidates were much perturbed.
