ISLAMABAD - Babri of Rawalpindi won the Punjab Cup Snooker Tournament 2013 by defeating Hamza Akbar of Faisalabad 7-5 in the final here at Dolphin-9 Snooker Launch Rawalpindi Cantt.

Babri was leading 5-4 before Hamza played 125 points break in the 10th game to level things at five frames all. It was so far the biggest ever break in the history of Punjab Cup Tournament. Babri then bounced back and won the next two frames to take the title. Faisal Kiyani and Ali Hasan performed the umpiring duties in the final.

Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Association (PBSA) president Alamghir Sheikh was the chief guest on the occasion while Punjab Billiard and Snooker Association president Naveed Ahmed, secretary Shahzad Chaudhry, Rawalpindi Billiard and Snooker Association patron-in-chief Abrar Azeem, Islamabad Billiard and Snooker Association SVP Rana Saleem Akhtar, Rizwan Arcade, Tahir Rizwan and Khaqan Rizwan were also present on the occasion. Babri was awarded the keys of Honda CD 70 for winning the title by Rizwan Arcade and Rs 10,000 cash on behalf of Chicken Hut. Chief guest Alamghir announced to organise five instead of four ranking tournaments next year and Dolphin Snooker would organise the fifth event.

He appreciated the standard of Rawalpindi-based players and lauded the role of Abrar Azeem for the promotion of snooker in the region.
