MULTAN - The outstanding amount against tube-well defaulters in Multan Circle of Multan Electric Power Company has surpassed the mark of Rs1.10 billion.

This was disclosed by Superintending Engineer of Multan Circle Malik Saed Ahmad Wains. He said that because of the outstanding amount, the deficit being faced by the company was increasing by millions on monthly basis, creating serious financial issues for the company.

In an open letter to the tube-well consumers, he said that an enormous amount of Rs200 million added to the deficit because of non-payment of electricity bills by them between December 2012 and February 2013. “If the tube-well consumers have any complaints on bill reading, we’re available to address them forthwith,” he made an offer. He said that Mepco could not survive any longer if the consumers ceased paying their bills. He warned that the Mepco would be forced to cut off their power connections if they declined to pay their bills, asking them to clear their dues forthwith.
