RAHIM YAR KHAN – Along with their families, hundreds of workers of two multinational companies took out a protest walk and a sit in against job cuts.

The activists of the Pakistan Trade Union Defense Campaign and the All Workers Rights Movement started the rally from District Press Club. They were holding banners and placards chanting slogans against Unilever and Coca-Cola factories administrations.

The protesters blocked the DCO Office Chowk for half an hour and then reached outside the DCO office. PPP  MPA Engineer Javaid Akbar Dhaloon, PPP Shaheed Bhutto president Dr Aslam Naroo and PTUDC regional organiser Haider Chughtai addressed the protesters.

They said that they would fight for the rights of terminated workers.

 They said that the families of these workers were facing difficulties and hardships due to their suspension. They assured them of the restoration of their jobs. DCO Nabeel Javed told protesters that he would call the administration of the two companies and would arrange negotiations between both the sides soon. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
