HR body demands bodies of Guru, Butt

MIRPUR (AJK) - The UK-based global human rights organisation - the Kashmir Watch International urged the Indian government to hand over of the bodies of Kashmiri leaders Muhammad Afzal Guru and Shaheed Maqbool Butt immediately for burial in Mazar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar.
Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru was put to gallows in Tihar Jail in New Delhi in the controversial case of an attack on the Indian parliament. Whereas, Shaheed Maqbool Butt was hanged to death in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984, for his contribution to the Kashmir liberation movement and was buried on the jail premises.
Talking to the media, Kashmir Watch International Chairman Mir Muhammad Sideeque Khawaja paid rich tributes to both of the martyred Kashmiri leaders for embracing shahadat for the noble cause of liberation of the motherland from Indian yoke.
“Shaheed Maqbool Butt and Dr Afzal Guru were the principled and profound leaders of freedom movement and their contribution for the freedom struggle was remarkable and unforgettable,” he added.
The KWI chairman also demanded whereabouts of the Kashmiris disappeared in custody of the Indian police and troops. He said that thousands of people in IHK were disappeared and their relatives believed they were killed in the custody.
He appealed to the international community to intervene for getting stopped the reign of Indian atrocities against the innocent Kashmiris in Indian-held Jammu & Kashmir and facilitate for just solution of the Kashmir problem according to the wishes of the Kashmiris.
