ISLAMABAD - BISE Faisalabad grabbed the top position in the Pakistan Inter-Board Sports 2014 female category by winning 14 medals while BISE Gujranwala finished second and Sahiwal third on the concluding day of the event on Thursday.

Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Dr M Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera was the chief guest at the closing ceremony held at Jinnah Stadium on Thursday and also distributed prizes and trophies among players and teams.

In the females’ event, Faisalabad Board retained its supremacy and got first position by securing 205 points with six gold, four silver and four bronze medals while Gujranwala Board was second by securing 144 points with six gold, three silver and three bronze medals and Sahiwal Board was third gaining 133 points with one gold, four silver and one bronze medal. Mehreen Khan of Gujranwala Board was declared the best athlete of the event as she won five gold medals in athletics. Faisalabad got the titles of badminton and volleyball by defeating Islamabad and Sahiwal Board respectively.

In men's event, BISE Lahore clinched the first position by getting six gold, four silver and two bronze, followed by BISE Abbottabad with four gold, three silver and six bronze medals, while BISE Peshawar earned third position with four gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
