Call for joint efforts to save eco system

ISLAMABAD - Senator Farhat Ullah Baber on Thursday said that all segments of society are equal stakeholders for betterment of the Capital City. The issue of environment transcends all classes and all political parties. Capital Development Authority deserves praise for being active to preserve the healthy environment of the Capital City. “On behalf of all legislators, I assure full support of the legislature to Capital Development Authority”.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the first phase of “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign, arranged by CDA at Jinnah Super Market F-7 on Thursday.
The event was attended by people from different segments of society in a large number including Senator Osman Saifullah, representatives of Traders Welfare Association F-7 Markaz, Civil Society, NGOs, Ladies Council and Students from different schools, colleges and universities. Senior officials of Capital Development Authority were also present on the occasion.
Senator Farhat said the Senate’s Sub-Committee on Environment is engaged with CDA to tackle environment related issues. Despite financial and administrative constraints the performance of CDA is encouraging.
Senator Osman Saifullah on the occasion said that CDA is moving in right direction and “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign is one such move. All of us jointly own the Capital City and this joint ownership puts a heavy responsibility on all of us to work together for preserving the cleanliness, greenery and environment of Islamabad.”
Speaking on the occasion, Member Engineering and Environment CDA Sanaullah Aman said that “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign is initiative of the Capital Development Authority to preserve the environment of the Capital City with intention to further improve the cleanliness and greenery in the city.
CDA has started this campaign but all the residents of the city are equal shareholders in this campaign. Today’s ceremony is the conclusion of the first phase of “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign but this is not the conclusion of our efforts for improvement of environment of Islamabad. C
CDA will start the second phase from 27th March 2014 and the third phase from the 15th of April 2014 while the tree plantation campaign will commence from 5th March 2014.
