Crystal three times more harmful than heroin: DFPF

Drug Free Pakistan Foundation (DFPF) President Muhammad Sohail Younus has said that new drug namely crystal introduced recently is almost three times harmful than heroin.
He said that SNY Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers would provide free treatment to all addicts.
He was talking to the media during a visit to under construction SNY hospital in Patthan Wali here the other day.  He disclosed new drug crystal was smuggled from South America and South Africa to other countries and a special chemical was used in preparation of crystal.
“Attempts of eradication of drugs and treatment of addicts are restricted and sometime evince useless due to influence of heavy drug money”, he said.
He said that “fighting the drug abuse is not only our religious duty but also a moral obligation.” He said that to build a safer tomorrow, efforts of individuals should be encouraged, adding that drug free Pakistan was a dream which would be materialized with the support of the police and social workers as well. “There are 9 million addicts in the country which has been increasing ratio of 3 percent yearly. Youths of higher society including women use drug as a fashion and made it a status symbol which is an alarming situation “, he said.
Asian Federation of Therapeutic Community Senior Vice President Bashir Ahmad Naz, ANWS President Muhammad Jameel Cheema, former ANWS presidents Asjad Cheema and Shahid Raza Bajwah, Qamar Sadiq Warriach, Atif Shukar Goraya, Rana Muhammad Arshad, Malik Zeshan and Malik Muhammad Arshad were also present on the occasion.
demands accepted: The Punjab Irrigation Department officials committee headed by Deputy Secretary Ms Sara Rashid accepted all the 17 point demands charter of the employees. Irrigation Employees Power Union (CBA) leader Allah Bakhsh Sial disclosed here on Wednesday that delegation of union led by its President Sarif Khan had met the Irrigation Department officials. He added that they accepted demands included, upgradation of pay scales, issuance of funds for burial expenditures of deceased employees and facilities for employees who performed duty on canals.
