ISLAMABAD - A lawyer Naeem Ali Gujjar who is also general secretary of District Bar Association Islamabad Thursday thrashed a Reader of a civil judge for not fixing the next date of a case as per his desire. The staffers of all trial courts went on strike to lodge their protest against this brutal act of the lawyer.

However, the matter was, later, resolved amicably after the lawyer Naeem Gujjar tendered apology on the intervention of the district and sessions judge. According to the details, Naeem Gujjar Advocate went to the court of civil judge Raja Farrukh Ali Khan to attend the hearing of a case in which he was a counsel.

The Reader told Gujjar that the judge was not present at the moment. At this, Gujjar demanded to fix the next date of the case as per his wish. However, the Reader replied that the judge would take the decision in this regard. This reply infuriated the newly-elected general secretary of DBA Islamabad Naeem Gujjar and he started to slap the Reader.

After the incident, all readers, stenographers, clerks and peon went on strike to protest against the incident. Then, DBA general secretary tendered apology and the issue was resolved. A similar unfortunate incident was also happened a day before yesterday when a former president of Islamabad District Bar Association Javed Akbar Shah had misbehaved with an Islamabad High Court judge.

In the aforementioned incident that had happened on Wednesday, Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC Thursday issued show cause notices to the former President of DBA Javed Akbar Shah and another lawyer Saeed Niazi directing them to appear before the court here today (Friday).

In the matter of Javed Akbar Shah who had used abusive language inside the courtroom, the newly elected President Islamabad High Court Bar Association Mohsin Akhtar Kyani said that the issue is almost resolved and the lawyer would tender apology to the judge here Friday.

Talking to The Nation, Kyani said in reply to a question regarding the growing number of lawyer’s misbehaviour incidents that the both lawyers and judges need training in dealing with each other.

It is to mention here that Javed Akbar Shah on Wednesday had used abusive language inside the courtroom against the judge and the judge had ordered his arrest. After the IHC judge had ordered arrest of the lawyer for contempt of court, his fellow lawyers threatened the police cops of dire consequences and also prevented Shah being arrested.
