SIALKOT - The clerical staff of all the 124 urban and rural union councils across the district observed strike in protest against the month-long shortage of the Nadra security papers, being used for issuance computerized birth, death and marriage certificates to the public.
They staged peaceful sit-ins in their respective UCs offices in the district’s all four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils, demanding early release of the Nadra security papers to facilitate the people in this regard.
Later, the secretaries of the union councils also joined their strike. They pointed out that there was acute shortage of the Nadra security papers in district’s all 124 union councils, due to which the issuance of computerized birth, death and marriage certificates etc had been lying suspended for the last one month. They added that people had been suffering from great ordeal.
Meanwhile, NADRA Sialkot District Assistant Director Sabir Aziz Ghauri confirmed that there was acute shortage of Nadra security papers. He said that the situation had already been brought into the notice of the Nadra high ups in Lahore and Islamabad and they had assured early provision of the security papers to all the UCs in Sialkot district.
