MULTAN
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit Multan by the mid of March to inaugurate a number of mega projects including Multan International Airport, Kidney Centre, Shahbaz Sharif Hospital and Multan Metro Bus project, declared DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal. Addressing a meeting here on Friday, he added that work was underway day and night of the above mentioned projects and they would be accomplished before the visit of the PM and CM. He said that funds worth billions were being spent on these projects and they would bring revolution in Multan. He said that 99 per cent work on Multan International Airport, Kidney Centre and Shahbaz Sharif Hospital had been done. He added that the pace of work on Multan Tea House had also been expedited and the CM would inaugurate this great project to provide a place to the poets, authors and journalists of this region for doing intellectual work.
Referring to other development projects, he said that 18 roads of the city were being carpeted with the financial assistance of World Bank to resolve traffic issues and beautify the city. He added that the Solid Waste Management Company and town administration had been given one-week deadline to make the city clean.
He said that the upcoming Jashan-e-Baharan would offer a great recreational opportunity to the citizens for free. He directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority to identify spots in Shujabad, Jalalpur Pirwala and Qadirpur Rawan for establishing green belts. He added that the proposals were sought from the citizens for making spring plantation drive successful.
CASH PRIZES FOR WINNERS: Government Emerson College Principal Prof Malik Abdul Jabbar has announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the players of his college’s BISE champion Inter Team and University champion Degree Team here on Friday. He made the announcement during a special ceremony held to honour the players. The principal praised the performance of Degree team captain Hassan Raza who made two back to back centuries in semi-final and final matches. He also advised the players to show distinction in the field of study like games.
Earlier, Prof Javed Malik briefed the participants of the function on the performance of all players.
