MULTAN - Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi on Saturday reviewed different uplift schemes and directed officials concerned to ensure timely completion of development work.
During a visit to Union Council 18, in his constituency NA 156, he said any delay in the completion of work would not be tolerated, adding there would be no compromise on quality of work. He stated that the schemes would be beneficial for local people.
He also visited house of special assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Javed Akhtar Ansari, and heard masses problems besides issuing on the spot instruction for their redressal.
FM Qureshi also visited few houses to condole with families of those who lost their lives recently.

action to prevent air traffic mishaps
District administration finalised plan to prevent presence of birds from surroundings of airport to avoid any air traffic mishap due to collision of aeroplanes with birds.
In this connection a meeting was held on Saturday presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Qamar-Ul-Zaman Qaisrani. It was decided in the meeting that ban would be imposed on throwing leftover food by marriage halls and hotels or garbage in surroundings of airport. The concerned officers have also sought approval of Additional Chief Secretary Home for imposing section 144 on the matter of wasting food items in surroundings of airports and airbases.
The ADCG directed forest department to ensure trimming of big trees from suburbs of the airport jurisdiction while the wildlife department asked to remove nests of birds from the trees. He also directed concerned departments to launch a comprehensive crackdown against illegal slaughter houses from nearby localities of the airport.
Qamar-Ul-Zaman Qaisrani urged police to ensure strict action against the people using laser lights near airport and urged masses to avoid throwing meat near airport to avoid any air traffic mishap.
Commissioner Multan for strict action on hoarding of fertilizers
Commissioner Multan Division Javed Akhtar Mahmood expressed annoyance over poor performance of agriculture department especially it failed to discourage hoarding of Urea fertilisers.
While chairing a meeting, attended by Deputy Commissioner and officers from agriculture department, the Commissioner constituted a special committee to verify data of different raids of agriculture department to maintain fertilisers supply and stop sale of substandard agricultural inputs. The committee also identified the responsible officials and then it would prepare certain recommendation which would be sent to Secretary Agriculture for action. The Commissioner also instructed Deputy Commissioner to ensure submission of meetings minutes of District Task Force.
The person involved in selling fake fertilisers would be dealt strictly, said Javed Akhtar. He observed that farmers were backbone of agriculture system. The farmers rights would be protected at all costs. Farmers feed citizens, he said adding that Punjab government was very much interested in well being and prosperity of the farmers. The fruits of government policy must reach the peasants, he stated.
