No-confidence move
JI chief will also inquire after health of Ch Shujat Hussain
LAHORE - The chaotic political situation arising out of the Opposition’s move to dislodge the incumbent government through a no-confidence motion has brought together the leadership of the PML-Q and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to exchange views on the likely political scenario in the days to come.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq along with a party delegation is scheduled to meet with Ch Shujat Hussain and other PML-Q leaders at 1:30 pm today (Monday) at his Zahoor Elahi Road residence. Ch Shujat will also host a lunch in honour of the visiting JI delegation. Monday’s meeting between the PML-Q and JI leaders is significant as the political interactions between the two parties had been a rarity irrespective of the heightened political situations in the past.
The political heads of the two parties will exchange views on the current political situation against the backdrop of the Opposition’s planned move to dismantle the government, said the sources, adding that Sirajul Haq will also inquire after the health of Ch Shujat Hussain.
This will be the fifth political gathering taking place in a month at the residence of Chaudhrys of Gujrat following Opposition parties’ decision to move a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Before this, the PML-Q leadership has received the PML-N president Mian Shehbaz Sharif, the PPP president Asif Ali Zardari, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and an MQM delegation at their residence. Maulana Fazlur Rehman visited them twice this month.
