MIRPUR (APP) - AJK government was seriously contemplating to set up a new mega industrial zone over an area of 26,000 kanals of land here in near future, official sources said. The new industrial zone, the sources told APP here on Thursday, was proposed to be constructed near Moori village, on Mirpur-Jatlan road, for which the required land was being acquired by the government. The sources continued that the state government was giving due attention on promoting business and industrial activities in AJK where a conducive atmosphere was already available. The state government had also intended to give due facilities to the existing and intending entrepreneurs at par with Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa provinces to ensure speedy uplift of the industrial sector of the liberated territory, they added. They further said the plan also involved a network of wide roads, uninterrupted supply of power, coupled with water and telephone facilities in new and existing industrial estates. The sources said the government also intended to give relief to those industrialists who have to face huge overhead freight charges of transportation of the raw material from various parts of the country to their industrial units operating in AJK. The state government is also planning to give 10 to 12 years tax exemption to the new industrial units to be established in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The amendments in existing five-year tax exemption law for the new comers in AJK Industrial estates were also proposed to be made by the state legislature, the sources added.
