Nelson Mandela has been discharged for treatment at home after having been treated for acute respiratory infection, the country's surgeon has said. "He has been discharged," said Vejaynand Ramlaken, one of the military doctors assigned to care for the country's former presidents said on Friday. "He is stable, but will be subject to intense monitoring," Dr Ramlaken added. Dr Ramlaken said Dr Mandela's family were making arrangements for him to return to his home in Houghton in Johannesburg.
