No extension in 45 days period: Nawaz

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Thursday decided to ensure implementation of its proposed 10-point reform agenda without further delay. This decision was taken at a high-level consultative meeting chaired by PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif here at the Punjab House. According to party sources, the meeting reviewed at length the progress achieved so far during the meetings held between PML-Ns 4-member committee and the government in connection with the imposition of 10-point reforms agenda. The sources said that Senator Ishaq Dar, who is heading PML-N 4-member committee, briefed the participants about the governments stance on every point of agenda and pace of the implementation of these points. Nawaz Sharif urged the committee members to continue briefing the media and the people about the progress on the 10-point agenda. The meeting expressed its dissatisfaction over the pace of implementation of the proposed 10 points. The participants were of the view that the government was showing slackness in this regard. The meeting urged the members of committee to pressurise the government to make public the lists of all the persons who had got loans of billions of rupees written off on the political basis. All the written-off loans be recovered from them and returned to the national kitty. The meeting was attended by Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Sardar Mehtab Khan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Pervez Rashid and Abdul Qadir Baloch. Monitoring Desk adds:  Nawaz Sharif has asked the government to either implement the 10-point agenda or get ready to pack up and go home. In an interview with a private TV channel on Thursday, Nawaz said the agenda was not for forming his own government and had been formulated in the best of national interest, adding, The agenda would be implemented even if we have to hold midterm elections. Nawaz warned if the govt failed to ensure implementation it would have to go home and another govt would complete the process. He said in case the govt fell short of materialising the promises in 45 days, his party we would announce its strategy. He said for a change, either midterm polls would be held or opposition parties inside the National Assembly would form a govt together to fulfil the stated goals. We have no desire to become a commander for implementation of this agenda, he remarked. Our only objective is to implement the agenda irrespective of who does it, he stressed.
