LAHORE - Governor Latif Khosa said here Thursday that no amendment would be made in the Blasphemy Law, asserting that no such legislation on the law was being envisaged by the government. The fact finding committee constituted by President Asif Ali Zardari is merely aimed at stopping the path of any Bill by any Member on the Private Members Day in the National Assembly, he clarified during a joint-press conference with JI Ameer Syed sMunawar Hasan during his visit to the JI headquarters at Mansoora. Khosa asserted that PPP would defend the honour of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) till the last drop of blood in their veins. Ive come to meet JI leadership in pursuance of the PPPs policy of reconciliation under the directive of President and Prime Minister, Khosa responded. The Governor said that he has brought a message for the JI leadership, adding that PPP does not believe in politics of confrontation. To a question, Khosa said that the passage of the 18th and 19th Amendments was made possible through politics of reconciliation. We will have to bury politics of hatred in order to reach consensus on issues and challenges faced by the country, Punjab Governor added. Khosa said that he had invited JI leadership to come forward and work for the countrys solidarity, adding that only one political party or a government could not resolve issues single-handedly. The PPP believes in equality as envisaged by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the 1973 Constitution is the best exponent of it, Khosa replied. To another query, he said he had congenial relationship with the Punjab government. JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan, addressing the press conference, welcomed the reconciliation efforts by the PPP govt, and stressed that masses should reap the fruits of reconciliation policy in the country. Syed Munawar Hasan demanded that the government take notice of the US governments statement regarding granting protection to Asia and immediately expel representative of the Vatican City from Pakistan by declaring Popes statement interference in the internal affairs. He criticised that no clear contradiction has yet been submitted by the government regarding the fact-finding committee on Blasphemy issue headed by Federal Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti.
