KARACHI - Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Sindh Moazzam Jan Ansari has said that the record of DG FIA Waseem Ahmed has been brought on the directives of Supreme Court. In a press conference at his office, Moazam said that Rs 26 billion have been misappropriated in the Steel Mill scam and FIA is complainant in all the 10 cases of embezzlement. Despite the clear instructions of the Standing Committee on Steel Mill has not initiated inquiries of the cases, he added. As many as 15 accused have been arrested in the Steel Mill corruption cases and corruption of Rs 9 billion has surfaced. Investigation is being conducted to recover Rs 26 billion embezzled mondy, the Sindh DG said. He further said that FIA has recovered Rs 30 million from Abbas Akbar Ali, Director Amrely Steel Mills in this regard. Talking about the National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL), he said that three accused including Director NICL Ayaz Niazi have been arrested while rest including Ameen Qasim Dada are still at large. However, raids are being conducted to arrest them, he said. Moreover, he said, FIA has announced Rs one million reward money for the arrest of Ameen Qasim Dada, he said adding that Rs 0.52 billion have been recovered in this case. Ansari said that FIA has detected embezzlement of Rs 12 billion as a result of enquiry initiated in the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP). FIA has arrested former chairman TCP Muhammad Malik and some directors of the corporation. He denied the role of FIA Karachi into the inquiry Haj scandal.
