MQM against divide and rule policy: Altaf

SUKKUR - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain has said that his party is not thinking of dividing Sindh province, adding, that there is also no ban in Karachi for the admission of Sindhi students in various educational institutes.
Addressing a big gathering ‘Sindh Strong Pakistan’ at Sukkur on Friday, Altaf Hussain in his telephonic address stated that if Sindh gets its due share, the province will become prosperous. Altaf said he is son of Sindh province while nationalists should not play the role of divide and rule and their politics is unacceptable.
He said MQM is loyal with Sindhis and Sindh cause and would not bargain in this connection. ‘Kalabagh Dam was rejected due to pressure of MQM’, he added. He said that NFC Award was announced after MQM struggle.
He said that Urdu speaking and Sindhi speaking are sitting at same place with each other which is signal of equality and they will protect each other.
He demanded that Balochistan problem should be resolved politically.
MQM leader urged the government to probe matter of missing persons of Balochistan who were killed after being kidnapped.
He demanded to arrest the culprits and punish them.
He said this meeting was giving the message to everybody of solidarity for love, peace and tolerance which was given by the prominent saint poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, which recited by Altaf Hussain before the start of his speech ‘Sain Sada Karen Mithay Sindh Sokar’.
He said that the total revenue collected for the country includes 70 per cent share of Sindh while 30 per cent by others.
He said that every labourer of Sindh would be able to look after his children with honour ,adding, there would be no unemployment if its due right was given to Sindh.
Altaf said that in Karachi, conspiracies were being hatched for clash between Shias and Sunnis.
He said that he disliked the word of minorities, adding, that Hindus and Christians are equally Pakistanis.
He demanded providing protection to the lawyers and media communities.
He also demanded improvement of law and order situation in Sindh.
He said that he wanted elimination of feudal and wadera culture from the country.
He said that the meeting of MQM in Sukkur was biggest ever in the history of the Sindh province.
He quoted the sayings of prominent saint Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai that: ‘if you want to live with honour then face difficult situation with bravery’.
Altaf Hussain on behalf of MQM demanded special package for development and promotion and construction of Sukkur city as Sukkur was the third biggest City of Sindh province but it was neglected.
He said that although Sukkur was on embankment of River Indus but half of its population was deprived of water and compelled to get potable water from water tankers and demanded of federal and provincial government for providing additional funds for education and health department and development of Sukkur city.
He demanded modern hospital of international standard.
He said that, the population of the City has been increased but there was no university for its people.
He demanded for immediate announcement of a university and also demanded establishment of Engineering College in Sukkur, Poly-Technical Institute for Boys and Girls and betterment of the condition of Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College so that students could get education.
He demanded to ensure providing gas and electricity to the villages, goths and talukas in Sukkur and its various areas. He demanded Railways system improvement in Sukkur by providing special funds.
Altaf announced Rs one million for the Sukkur Press Club and stated that a training institute will be opened for the training of Sukkur and its joining areas journalists.
Altaf Hussain also offered condolence to families of lawyers who were killed in Karachi target killing.
Earlier, Deputy Convener Rabitta Committee, MQM Farooq Sattar addressing the gathering stated that gathering of Sukkur is a referendum and talking about the division of Sindh is a crime.
He said that Sindh Assembly passed a resolution for the establishment of Pakistan and Sindh has a vital role in uplift of the country.
On the occasion, member Rabita Committee MQM Ashfaq Ahmed Mangi told that such a huge gathering is the evidence of revolution and today the politicians are talking about the vision of Altaf Hussain for bringing a change in the country. He said that anti-people created conspiracy among the Urdu and Sindhi speaking but they cannot succeed at any cost.
The member of Central Executive Committee Umar Khan Sherzai, Sarfaraz Nawaz Anees Qaim Khani, Aamir Khan, cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz and other MQM workers from all over the country also participated.
Many people from various districts announced to join the MQM on the occasion.
