| AJK govt says Bureau should have consulted with authorities before conducting search operation

During a raid, a National Accountability Bureau’s team was attacked at the residence of former AJK president Raja Zulqurnain Khan here on Wednesday after the arrest of his son in Islamabad in connection with the multibillion rental power scam, officials said.
On the other side, Prime Minister Abdul Majeed has ordered high-level inquiry into unpleasant incident, an AJK government spokesman said. The spokesman said that the government had also expressed grave concern over the unpleasant incident. He said that the NAB should have consulted with the Accountability Bureau of Azad Jammu & Kashmir before conducting search operation in the jurisdiction of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
In the attack, NAB Deputy Director Asghar Khan was wounded, said Mirpur Deputy Commissioner Amjad Iqbal. He said that the visiting NAB team comprising two deputy directors, policemen and a magistrate conducted the search operation at the residence of former President of AJK Raja Zulqurnain Khan. A couple of days ago, arrest of his son Babar Ali Zulqurnain Khan was made in Islamabad in connection with the multibillion rental power scam.
The district administration and the police headed by a duty magistrate, AC Raja Qaiser Aurangzeb and DSP Khawaja Abdul Qayyum provided assistance to the team. According to the details gathered by this correspondent from the local authorities, the situation ignited during the search operation for collection of documentary evidence. Meanwhile, one after the other, the team members and the ex-president’s family members started taking snaps of each other.
During that, heated argument took place between one of the deputy directors and Raja Zulqurnain’s son Qaiser Zulqarnain Khan who was present at the venue, which resulted in an alleged assault on Deputy Director Asghar Khan. The local police team controlled the situation from further aggravation.
The injured deputy director received minor bruises and was taken to the DHQ Hospital. Duty Magistrate - Assistant Commissioner Mirpur Qaiser Aurangzeb visited the hospital and inquired after his health.
The deputy commissioner and the SP immediately rushed the scene of the incident. Both the NAB deputy directors later rushed the city police station which has reportedly booked Qaiser Zulqarnain Khan and others allegedly involved in the assault on the NAB team officials.
According to Mirpur SSP Raja Irfan Salim, the NAB team had collected required documentary record during the search operation in the house. But the situation took serious turn when one of the NAB official started taking snaps of Qaiser Zulqarnain Khan which led to the scuffle. “Further investigations are in progress,” the SSP told this correspondent when contacted.
The NAB had, about two days ago, arrested Baber Ali Zulqarnain Khan after his bail plea was rejected by Islamabad High Court in the multi-billion famous rental power case in which former prime minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf and several other big wigs were also allegedly involved.
