ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi discussed with the World Bank delegation the ongoing development projects being undertaken in partnership with the international financial institution and sought help in resolving the dispute with India especially with regard to Kishanganga and Rattle projects.
The WB delegation headed by its Regional Vice-President Annette Dixon met with Abbasi at the Prime Minister's House on Saturday.
Dixon was accompanied by WB Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan, IFC Regional Vice-President Snezana Stojakovic and Nadeem Siddiqui.
Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, Secretary Finance Arif Ahmed Khan, Secretary Water Resources Shamail Ahmed and others were also present.
The prime minister apprised the delegation of the overall reform agenda of the government which has resulted in the revival of the economy, putting economic growth on an upward trajectory.
The premier said that a significant improvement of the law and order situation, management of energy crisis and massive infrastructure development being undertaken under the CPEC project would further strengthen the economy.
The prime minister emphasized that Pakistan looks forward to the WB support in the timely completion of the ongoing developmental projects and, in particular, expects that it would help resolve the water dispute with India by effectively playing the role mandated to it under the Indus Water Treaty.
Dixon assured the prime minister of continued support of the World Bank to Pakistan.
