Sharifs living in fool’s paradise: Nafisa

KARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party MNA Dr Nafisa Shah said on Saturday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should wait for people’s verdict against him in the next elections instead of launching a tirade against the state and its institutions. “The Sharif brothers are living in fool’s paradise and the next general elections will expose their claims of public support,” she said.

She said that raising hue and cry was something that Nawaz Sharif would definitely do after his disqualification because he could not live without power for a single day. She said Sharif’s politics was for power rather than the masses.  “Sharif is saying that justice was not done in his case. If justice is done, Sharif’s next destination will be Adiala Jail,” she said.

The PPP MNA said that soon after his disqualification Sharif started speak up against the state. She said PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari raised the slogan of Long Live Pakistan while burying Benazir Bhutto. She said the PPP leadership had raised the slogan of Long Live Pakistan every time he was subjected to injustice, but Sharif was bent on becoming another Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“Sharif’s ordeal is not even one percent of the ordeal the PPP leadership had gone through in the past, but he is making hue and cry far more than anyone else,” she said.  Shah said the PML-N is trying to take credit for action against the Taliban despite the fact that they were the ones who had asked the militants to spare their provincial government in Punjab.

“Shehbaz Sharif told the Taliban that PML-N’s and their ideology were the same,” she said, adding that those once begging the Taliban for negotiations were now taking credit for achievements against them. The PPP leader said her party leaders, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, were the first to speak up against dialogue with the Taliban and it was the PPP, which had sacrificed its leadership and activists in the war against terror.

The electricity tariff has reached its peak in PML-N’s tenure and the federal government is making false claims of ending loadshedding, she said, adding that they are bent on snatching everything from the poor of the country and keep narrating unfounded stories of progress and prosperity in the country.

She said the entire struggle of Nawaz Sharif was to safeguard the money he had looted from the country. She said one brother was making anti-Pakistan speeches, while the other was targeting patriotic people of the country. She said that Nawaz Sharif’s call for a movement was nothing more than words and how could he lead a movement when he could not face mosquitoes in Landhi Jail?

“Nawaz Sharif filled his pockets with taxpayers’ money and he wants to incur more losses to the nation,” she said.
