Mardan police conduct mock drill in view of threat alert

Mardan - Mardan Police on Wednesday conducted a mock rehearsal in view of recent threat alerts from the authorities concerned regarding possible terrorist attacks. 

The mock rehearsal was conducted at Girls Degree College at Sheikh Maltoon and participated by the bomb disposal squad and elite force.  

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan visited Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) and inspected security arrangements at the campus in view of the recent threat alert for universities. The DPO also met VC Zahoor-ul-Haq and directed the security officials to boost security at various points of the campus.

On the occasion, Dr Zahidullah asked people to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious person or item to the cops. 

Meanwhile, Counter-Terrorism Department arrested a commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan along with two accomplices on Wednesday.

A press release from CTD said the accused Zakir and his accomplices had shifted weapons and ammunition from Afghanistan to Pakistan via Tirah Valley route to target industrialists and other businesspersons for extortions. 

Zakir confessed during interrogation to have blast the home of a notable of Khyber district, Malik Zahir Shah, for the purpose of extortion. He also claimed to be associated with Lashkar-e-Islam and TTP and confessed to the crimes in a court of law.
