LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the names for the offices of chairman Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Gujranwala and secretary BISE Lahore. As per approval Muhammad Zahid Butt will be the new chairman of BISE Gujranwala and Mushtaq Ahmad Tahir will be the secretary BISE Lahore, sources in the CM Secretariat disclosed on Monday. They informed the secretary HEC had sent a summary in this regard to the chief minister recommending panels of the candidates for the above-mentioned posts wherein for the post of chairman BISE Gujranwala, two names were recommended in the panel that included Muhammad Zahid Butt and Muhammad Alim-ud-Din while three names were suggested for the post of secretary BISE Lahore - Mushtaq Ahmad Tahir, Akhtar Ali Anjum and Zafar Inayat Anjum. Muhammad Zahid Butt is MSc in Zoology. He had joined government service as Lecturer (BS-17) on February 26, 1980. He was promoted to assistant professor (BS-18) on April 04, 1989. He served in budget and planning department of Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI), Punjab, from 1993 to 1995. Later he was promoted as associate professor on October 05, 1995. He was worked as senior technical officer in purchase cell of the Punjab higher education department during 1999 to 2001 and served as director Public Libraries Punjab, Lahore, from 2004 to 2006. He was promoted as professor (BS-20) on June 13, 2008. Presently, he is working as Principal Govt Shalimar College, Lahore. Mushtaq Ahmad Tahir is MA in Education and EPM. He served as assistant education officer from January 01, 1991 to January 18, 1997, deputy district education officer from July 19, 1997 to June 30, 2006, senior headmaster from 2006 to 2007 and served as DEO from 2007 to 2008. Presently, he is working as Executive District Officer (Education) Kasur from April 24, 2008 todate. Muhammad Akram Ch already serving as chairman BISE Gujranwala has been appointed as additional secretary academic in the higher education department while already working on this post Farukh Zuhra Gillani has been asked to report her department. 4 students get PhD degree Four students of Government College University Lahore became PhD scholars after passing the examination of Doctor of Philosophy in the subject of Mathematics, spokesman of the University said on Monday. The theses of the students were evaluated and approved by the foreign faculty at ASSMS of GCU. Research papers of all PhD students have been accepted for publication in journals. Abdul Rauf Nizami, Zafar Iqbal and Usman Ali worked under the supervision of Dr Barbu Berceanu from Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences of GC University while Aziz-ur-Rehman worked with the Dr Shahadat Ali Taj.
