LAHORE-The PPP Ministers in Punjab Cabinet, led by Senior Punjab Minister, Raja Riaz, called on Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Monday and apprised him of their reservations regarding registration of a case by Gojra police against one of their colleagues, Haji Muhammad Ishaq, Minister for Revenue. The Ministers complained to Shahbaz Sharif about what they called biased attitude of police towards the Minister, saying that he was being falsely implicated in the case by police for political reasons. They demanded holding of an impartial inquiry into the incident and immediate transfer of SHO, Gojra, Bahar Hussain to meet demands of fair justice. They showed resentment over the registration of FIR against the Minister without holding proper inquiry. They said that the Minister was not present at the time of the firing. The sources said that Punjab Minister for Revenue, Haji Muhammad Ishaq, who also met Punjab CM alongwith other Ministers, pleaded his case in detail before the CM, saying he was being wrongly involved into the case under a conspiracy. The Punjab CM reportedly assured PPP Ministers that concerned police officials, including the SHO, who allegedly misbehaved with the Minister and his supporters the other day would be taken to task if they were found guilty of the crime as a result of the inquiry. Later, while talking to the media after the meeting, Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz said that SHO, Gojra, Bahar Hussain has been transferred on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister to ensure holding of fair inquiry into the incident. He further informed media that a two-member inquiry committee has been constituted by the CM to look into the matter and submit report within 48 hours. Earlier on Sunday, Gojra police registered cases against the Minister for interfering in official work and thrashing police officials. The police has also registered a case against Ministers supporters who allegedly resorted to aerial firing on the occasion of inauguration of a road in Gojra Town and offered resistance when police arrested one of their companions. Meanwhile, PPP sources on Monday alleged that entire move against Haji Ishaq has been orchestrated by a former PML-N legislator from Gojra, M Hamza, who wanted to defame PPP for political reasons.
