LAHORE - Additional Sessions Judge Lahore extended interim bail of former PML-N MPA Shumaila Rana till August 3 in the credit card theft case registered against her with police station Ghalib Market on the complaint of Muqeet Islam, a close relative of Zaira Malik, owner of the credit card. The court extended her bail after both sides counsels informed the court the investigation of the case was still underway therefore the hearing should be adjourned. As the additional judge Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad was on leave and the case was transferred to the court of Muhammad Akhtar Bahadur who put off hearing till Aug 3. After the postponement of hearing, Shumaila told media men in her brief talk that she would soon prove her innocence in the court. She said she had resigned from the assembly seat because she wanted to defend her case as a common citizen. She said those who galloped billions of rupees had not been held accountable adding she had not committed any fraud besides she had full confidence in courts. A case under sections 420/468/471 and 379 of PPC was registered against Shumaila Rana at Ghalib Market police station on the complaint of one Muqeet Islam, a resident of Gulberg. The complainant Muqeet Islam alleged that MPA Shumaila Rana stole the credit card of his close relative namely Zaira MAlik from Sukh Chain Health Club and later bought jewellery and garments worth Rs 80,000 from two different shops at Liberty Market.
