KARACHI (Online) - The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has issued party ticket of senate to Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin to elect him as Senator from Sindh. It is expected that he would be elected unopposed. The PPP Sindh has contacted Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Awami National Party and the forward block of Pakistan Muslim League-Q and they have assured not to field their candidate against Shaukat Tarin, sources told Online. After assurance by the coalition partners and other parties, it is almost certain that Shaukat would be elected as senator unopposed. The PPP government has decided to elect Shaukat Tareen as a member of the Upper House of the Parliament so that he could be appointed as head of National Finance Commission (NFC). It is pertinent to note that only the elected Parliamentarian can head NFC. The decision to award Party ticket to Tarin was taken during a meeting of PPP Sindh parliamentary board, headed by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Tarins nomination papers are likely to be submitted today (Tuesday) being the last day to take and submit nomination papers for the vacant seat. The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be completed by July 31 and final list would be displayed by 3 August. The polling is scheduled on August 7.
