LAHORE - The Directorate of Enforcement of the LDA, which submitted applications to get the cases registered against the PML-N MPAs for their alleged involvement in illegal occupation and construction in different localities, has been made defunct for the time being. LDA high-ups have issued the orders under the plea that the Directorate of Enforcement will remain inactive unless requirements of basic infrastructures including skilled staff, security guards, heavy demolition machinery and well-equipped office are fulfilled. LDA Additional Director General (Headquarter) Hafiz Ahsanul Haq has approved the move. The Directorate of Enforcement (DE), constituted by LDA, had rolled into action on May 15, 2009 to take action against illegal properties built on government lands, construction of building in violation of laws and encroachment. Ahmed Aziz Tarar who was the Director Estate Management-I, LDA was given additional charge of Director Enforcement in the directorate. With its inception, Directorate of Enforcement launched operation against illegal construction with full thunder. Surprisingly a number of PML-N MPAs including Ajasam Sharif, Bilal Yaseen, Malik Muhammad Waris Kalu stopped the directorate official to carry out demolition activities using their political influence. These officials filed application to LDA authorities seeking order to get FIR registered against the parliamentarians. However, all the cases were hushed up. So much so, LDA transferred and posted a number of officers, who suggested legal action against the PML-N parliamentarians, on a plea that reshuffle was meant to improve the overall functioning of the LDA. LDA Director Enforcement Ahmed Aziz Tarar who was showing administrative activism was replaced by Director Quaid-e-Azam Town Khawaja Javaid Aslam.
