The Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani has said The Kalabagh dam has become a victim of politics (Nawa-e-Waqt dated July 26), or in other words of political expediency. That is very serious because it means the political government is making decisions not in the national interest but in self interest. This confession by Prime Minister ought to be taken notice of through a suo motto by the Supreme Court of Pakistan as it flouts the oath of Prime Minister in which he solemnly swears to discharge (his) duties and perform (his) functions always in the interest of well-being and prosperity of Pakistan. In this particular case, he plainly failed to do so due to vested political interests. The oath of Prime Minister state further that he would do right to all manner of people, according to law, without fear or favour, affection or ill-will. That again has been seriously compromised too by his confession about doing politics of which Kalabagh dam has become a victim.
