KARACHI: The unending spate of targeted killings and violence claimed nine more lives in restive Karachi on Wednesday. The dead included a High Court advocate and a notorious gangster. The bloodshed continues despite the establishment of scores of new check posts and security agencys claim of arresting hundreds of suspected miscreants in last couple of weeks. Another advocate of Sindh High Court was shot dead near his house in F B Area in the remits of Gulberg Police. The 37-year-old Junaid was the resident of Block 17. Karachi Bar Association President Muhammad Aaqil condemned the killing, saying the victim had got married just four months ago. Aurangzaib Farooqi, President of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, a new name of the defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP), said victim was representing the cases of his workers. Ahmad Baloch, 24, and his friend Tariq Baloch, 25, allegedly affiliated with defunct Peoples Amn Committee (PAC), were shot dead in Press Quarter Gate near Makrani Mosque in the remits of PIB Police. Additional SHO Kamal Ahmed said the victims were residents of Sindhi Para PIB Colony. Police sources said that deceased Ahmed was a notorious commander of Lyari gangsters and wanted in several murders cases. Following this incident, tension gripped Old Subzi Mandi, Hassan Square, University Road and other surrounding areas, where heavy firing was reported and massive traffic jams were observed. Heavy contingents of police and Rangers were deployed in the sensitive areas. In another incident two bodies in gunny bags were found near Medina Mosque, Nazimabad, in the limits of Rizvia Police. The identities of victims were yet to be ascertained. SHO Masroor Ejaz said the hands and legs of both victims were tied with ropes and each of them had received two bullets in their head. Both the victims appeared to be Balochs. A man was shot dead at Sparco Road near Met Department office in the remits of Modina Town Police. The 46-year-old victim, Khameeso alias Khamo, was a resident of Sacchal Goth. In another incident a teenager was shot dead in the jurisdiction of Garden Police. 19-year-old Pardeep son of Mengal Das was a resident of Ranchore Line. SHO Akram Arain said that victim was missing since Tuesday night and police found his body from Bagh-e-Hilal society. In another incident a man was shot dead near Rukhsana Clinic in Shah Faisal No 2. SHO Shah Faisal Police Eric Jamil said the identity of victim had not been ascertained. Site-A Police found body bearing torture marks from Nullah near Habib Bank Chowrangi. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained.
