Court moved against price-hike

LAHORE A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court questioning the continuously increasing prices of the daily commodities as well as hoarding of food and other items. The petitioner Judicial Activism Panel has prayed to the court for enforcing a direction for revision of prices and these prices should be controlled through the committees comprising of civil society people, lawyers, journalists, professionals and others. The petitioner has enlisted federal and the provincial government, Interior Minister, NAB, FIA, Competition Commission of Pakistan, Commissioners and DCOs throughout Punjab and others as party. It submitted to the court for strictly restricting the government from increasing the prices. And that hoarding of the commodities should be strictly controlled. The petitioner has prayed to the court to suspend the government if they fail to act according to the constitutional obligations. In order to take to task the big hoarders, it suggested for setting up summary trial courts under the magistrates to punish the hoarders on the spot and increasing jail term for this offence.
