ISLAMABAD - In view of the constant defiance of the Supreme Court orders by the PPP government, the lawyers community is now considering to revive their movement for the supremacy of judiciary and the constitution in the country. Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Division President Shaukat Siddiqui hinted this at the Supreme Court. During proceedings of the Haj scam case, he stood from his seat, came to rostrum and assured the five-member bench that they would not tolerate persistence defiance of the court orders by the PPP govt. For the last many months, particularly a couple of days, it had been observed that the government had crossed all limits in defying the court orders, he further said. He said if the court orders were not implemented they would take to the streets and would be ready to sacrifice their lives for the sanctity of judiciary. Later talking to the media on the premises of Supreme Court building along with the SCBA additional secretary general, he said they wanted the stability of institutions and eradication of corruption, therefore, they would stand by the judiciary. The additional secretary general said the lawyers community was behind the Supreme Court and wanted the rule of law and supremacy of the constitution. He said the majority of SCBA lawyers supported the judiciary, adding they might revive the lawyers movement as the government was trying to make apex courts judgments controversial. A lawyer belonging to the PPP, Ramzan Chaudhry, who once was part of the lawyers movement, said one group of the lawyers was trying to make the judiciary controversial but the courts as wells as the democratic government system would fail their conspiracy. He also urged the Supreme Court to take notice of certain lawyers making conspiracy against the judiciary.
