LAHORE (PR) - Working class all over the country held protest demonstrations on the call of Pakistan Workers Federation against sky-rocketing prices of essential commodities on the eve of Ramzan and demanded raise in the wages. The leaders of Pakistan Workers Federation demanded the construction of coal-fired thermal power station and hydel power station in the public sector for provision of cheaper and abundant electricity besides they also demanded reinstatement of terminated officebearers of PTCL Trade Union Workers representative for perusing the just demands of the workers. The workers all over the country including, Peshawar, Multan, Rawalpindi Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta held protest demonstration in support of their demands. In Lahore, the various processions of the trade union representatives and workers belonging to WAPDA, PTCL, PWD, Irrigation, textiles, local bodies and others took out procession from the various parts of the country including Bakhtiar Labour Hall, Lahore led by Mr. Khurshid Ahmed, Secretary General of the Federation alongwith Ch Muhammad Talib Nawaz, President Pakistan Workers Federation and held a demonstration outside Lahore Press Club. They asked the government to implement statutory labour laws including Seventh Newspaper Employees Wage Board Award in accordance with ILO Convention No 81 ratified by the Government of Pakistan.
