OUR STAFF REPORTER SARGODHA - Potable water has become a dream for the residents of New Satellite Town, the most congested and populated area of the city The inhabitants said that they had to buy water while the poor people could not afford to buy water. So they have to bring water from filter plants and hand pumps situated in far off areas. The people said that ill-planned water supply schemes did not comfort the masses and just proved the destruction of national exchequer from the first day. They said the contaminated water was the main cause of spreading diseases like hepatitis and abdominal ones. On the other hand, TMA officials said that the New Satellite Town water supply scheme was established in 1983 to fulfil the requirements of a short locality of that time. He added water supply was still working in 2011 without any renovation or upgradation to meet the present situation. Resultantly, the old water supply was facing multifarious problems now. They also said that about 200,000 gallons of water was being supplied to the locality and trying their hard to satisfy the masses in spite of old machinery and un-scheduled power loadshedding. They said that an estimate has been sent to Punjab government for the upgradation of so that the frequent supply of water could be made possible. SIKANDAR KHAN LAID TO REST: Assistant Election Commissioner Punjab Rana Muhammad Aslam Khans elder brother Rana Sikandar Hayat has passed away. He was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard. A great number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayer of the deceased. The Qul will be offered in the village 169/NB, Sillanwali at 2.30pm on Wednesday (today).
