PESHAWAR - At least eight militants and two personnel of security forces were killed and 24 others injured when Frontier Constabulary successfully repulsed a terrorist attack at Speen Thall Post of Hangu in the wee hours on Saturday.

Maps and documents in Arabic language have been recovered from the possession of the killed Arab militant. Two FC men were killed and 24 sustained minor injuries in the attack.

“Around 150 miscreants, armed with light and heavy arms including RPGs, mortars, grenades and C-5 explosives attacked the Frontier Constabulary post at Speen Thall located on the border between Hangu and Miranshah. Fighting gallantly, personnel of the Frontier Constabulary repulsed attack by militants, who received hefty human and material re-enforcements from Miranshah during the three-hour long battle,” said FC handout.

The attackers, around 150 in number, suffered substantial human and material losses and forced to flee from the scene.

A number of miscreants, including a local militant commander, were killed and several others injured during the battle. Militants are said to have taken along six to eight dead bodies of their accomplices. However, bodies of two miscreants, including an Arab national, were recovered by the officials.

During the attack, two Frontier Constabulary men were martyred and 24 sustained minor injuries. Soon after the attack, a massive search operation was launched by the security forces during which a number of IEDs were located and diffused.

In another incident, five FC men sustained injuries in a blast in Hangu district on Saturday afternoon. In the latest incident, a truck carrying the FC personnel was attacked near Doaba Bridge.

The explosion - caused by a remote-controlled device planted with a motorbike -completely destroyed the truck. Officials said the security forces began a search operation in the area following the attack.

According to NNI, at least 18 militants were killed in the clash with the security forces in Spin Tal area of Tehsil Thall near the border of North Waziristan Agency.

According to official sources‚ two FC personnel were also martyred and 20 other injured in the incident.
