KABUL : Two Afghan civilians were killed following two failed assassination attempts targeting a provincial governor and a police chief. In the first incident, a bomb rigged to a bridge was detonated as a vehicle transporting Asadullah Shirzad, police chief of the Baghlan province, passed by. Hours later a vehicle carrying Khairullah Anosh, governor of Samangan, hit another improvised explosive device as the politician was heading to work in the provincial capital Aibak.
