ISLAMABAD - A large number of buyers from every nook and corner of federal capital can be witnessed flocking to the market for purchasing different varieties of dates the most demanding commodity of the Ramazan.

People traditionally use dates to break their fast, so sales of this sweet fruit soar during Ramazan in federal capital.

The markets are full of well known local and imported dates varieties as Ajwa, Arabian dates,Irani dry dates, Pakistani Aseel, Karblain, Irani Rabai, Shareefa and Mazafati.

The local dates are being sold at Rs 200 per kg, Black Irani date Rs 280 per kg, Irani Brown at Rs 180 per kg, Mabroom dates Rs 1200 per kg, and Ajwa at Rs 2600.

A heath expert told APP that dates are used to break the fast because they boost the immune system and are full of fiber and it also provide vitamin A, C, and folic acid, he added.
