Police are patronising drug peddlers, addicted persons and gamblers thereby running the youth’s future, Lambardar Naka Afghan Village Ahmad Nawaz to The Nation by telephone.

He said that the police officials deployed at the Injra police station in spite of controlling narcotics and gambling are patronising these activities.

 He said that its ample proof is that narcotics are easily available in the locality resulting in increase of drug addicts. He said that drugs are the root cause of all social evils which should be eradicated with iron hands. He said that he along with the residents of the locality will launch a campaign against social evils.

He demanded that DPO Abdul Kadir Qamar should visit the remote area and ensure a strict action against drug peddlers and gamblers.

When contacted, the DPO said that he would look into the matter on priority basis.

Ruined road needs early repair: A landslide has destroyed the Faqeerabad-Sanjwal-Attock Road creating hurdle for commuters while no one is paying heed to solve the issue.

Almost 10 km link road near Haro Toll Plaza linking Faqeerabad, Sanjwal and Attock with main GT Road has been damaged to a great extent because of landslide near Dhok Jogian.

It can become a cause of falling of any vehicle into the deep ravine and may result in loss of human lives. People of the area lodged different complaints with the district administration but to no avail.

Despite repeated efforts, the district officer roads could not be accessed. However, one of his assistants said that this road does not fall under their jurisdiction and was being looked after by the Punjab Highways Department.

When approached, the Highways office, neither the SDO nor sub engineer was available in the office.

A clerk present there said that funds’ paucity was behind the inordinate delay in the removal of the land sliding.
