On July 23 MQM filed a defamation case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan claiming damages to the tune of Rs5bn for hurling “unfounded allegations against the MQM chief Altaf Hussain in SHC. Imran Khan on May 18 held Altaf Hussain responsible for the murder of his party leader Zahra Shahid, while MQM denied it, saying Imran wrongly accused Altaf.
The case is for face saving as they know that Imran Khan does not have any solid evidence except the threats. This is an opportunity for Imran Kahn to stand against MQM; I say entire PTI should come out to fight this case, they should all stand shoulder to shoulder with Khan. This can prove to be more serious and more challenging than the May 11 elections. For the nation, particularly the people of Karachi, it would also be an opportunity to decide whether to live with tyranny or freedom.
