Don’t exploit army for political goals: Q

LAHORE - PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that the government should not exploit Pak Army for achieving its political targets under the garb of Article 245.
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said that no measures had been taken under Article 245 despite worse law and order situation in Karachi, but calling the army in Islamabad on the basis of presumptions was not understandable. He said it was not wise to push the army into another task as it has already been waging war against terrorists in North Waziristan Agency. He said the military actions of General Ziaul Haq and General Pervez Musharraf were given constitutional protection; likewise it would be essential to provide a constitutional cover to the present military actions by the sitting Parliament.  Meanwhile, PML-Q Punjab president, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the government should have made arrangements for the IDPs before starting an operation in North Waziristan.  Talking to media after dispatching relief goods for the IDPs, he said the PML-Q chief was making efforts to bring Dr Tahirul Qadri’s Revolution March, Imran Khan’s Azadi March and PPP at a single platform to get rid of the inefficient government.
He said the effort in this connection would turn fruitful in near future. He added that August 14 would bring message of welfare, betterment of the people and change, as the marchers to Islamabad would return only after sending the rulers home.
