SIALKOT

Former information minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has advised Mr Nawaz Sharif to become a democratic prime minister and not a monarch.

She said that the nation had given him a mandate of democratic prime minister not for emperor. She said that the rulers were promoting the monarchy-styled democracy for their personal gains, as it was not the true democracy of which the masses had given a mandate to the PML-N.

She was talking to newsmen at Sialkot after distributing Eid gifts to deserving people. She spent a long time among these oppressed, ignored and deserving people and also held Iftar dinner with them.

She said that this was the high time to do politics in democratic way for promoting political tolerance and strong democracy in the country not to do the politics of monarchy as well, as the persisting style of the politics by the incumbent rulers was moving towards the monarchy in the country.

Ms Awan added that the country needs strong democracy not monarchy by the rulers, said that the government had failed to promote the politics of the tolerance. She said that the government’s decision of giving federal capital Islamabad security to Pak Army for three months was not reflecting a democratic attitude of the rulers, which would weaken the country politically and economically.

She said that Azadi March was the democratic right of the PTI. However, the march should be peaceful without causing any sort of damages to anything or anyone.
