Inflated bills vex consumers

HAFIZABAD-Electricity consumers have expressed their resentment over the issuance of inflated bills, and called upon Gepco authorities to simplify the procedure for the correction of the bills.
According to consumers, they were being issued bills on the basis of fictitious meter readings. There is heavy rush of affected consumers outside the Executive Engineer Office for the correction of their bills. A consumer, Ghafooran Bibi of Mohallah Muzaffar Khan, said that she had been receiving monthly bills for not more than Rs4,000 but she had been issued bill of Rs81,000 for the current month.
It is pertinent to mention that the Gepco chief had directed the officials here that they should issue bills on the basis of actual readings during his visit to Hafizabad last month but his directive was flouted by the local authorities.
