Islamabad - Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry yesterday chaired a high-level meeting to review performance of prosecution division of the bureau for the second quarter and directed to conduct inquires and investigation in accordance with law.

The chairman NAB reviewed the performance of second quarter of NAB Prosecution Division from April 01 to June 30, 2016 at NAB headquarter.

During the meeting, Prosecutor General Accountability (PGA) said the prosecution division has been revamped by inducting experienced and well-educated legal consultants/special prosecutors.

He said that due to constant deliberations and proper monitoring, the performance of prosecution division has been improved. He presented performance analysis of prosecution division and informed that the statistics show an enhanced performance by NAB prosecution division in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

He mentioned that trial at accountability courts ratio was seventy six percent, appeals at high courts ration was sixty four percent, writ petitions ratio at high courts ratio seventy five percent, constitutional petitions at Supreme Court of Pakistan upheldness ratio sixty nine percent and appeals at Apex Court of Pakistan ratio 66.6% was recorded in the second quarter.

The PGA further informed that NAB scored 77 percent conviction rate in trial court with 35 percent convictions and 10 percent acquittals during 1st half of 2016.

The chairman NAB said that bureau is committed to perform its national duty for a corruption free Pakistan by adopting zero tolerance policy across the board.

He said that the overall performance of prosecution division and regional bureaus of NAB is very good and has shown improvement over the previous year.
