LAHORE - JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has demanded constitution of a high level judicial commission to determine the causes and identify those who have broken the Swat peace agreement. He was talking to the newsmen at Jamia Naeemia on Saturday. The JUI-F Chief said that the people who violated the peace agreement were responsible for current situation in the country. He said that no issue could be resolved through force which was evident from the failure of the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. Offering his services to play the role of a bridge between the government and Taliban, he said that a peaceful atmosphere was required for the success of talks. He urged the government to end military operation in Swat and find political solution of the issue. If talks can be arranged in Balochistan and NWFP then why agreement cannot be struck in Swat?, he questioned. Welcoming the establishment of committee to repeal the 17th Amendment, he stressed upon the need to review other controversial amendments in the constitution. He said the US wanted its hegemony in the region which was creating hatred among the masses. To a question about creation of new provinces, he said that there was no harm if they were really required. First it should be seen that whether the existing provinces are given autonomy and due rights as per the constitution, he questioned. He met with Mehfooz-ur-Rehman Naeemi and Muhammad Tajwar Naeemi, brothers of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi, to offer condolence over the martyrdom of eminent scholar. He offered fateha at the grave and wrote his expressions in the condolence book. Paying tributes to Dr Sarfraz Naeemi, the JUI-F Chief said that the deceased throughout his life worked for unity of the Muslims belonging to different schools of thought. He said that Dr Sarfraz Naeemi were against extremism. He said that one could have differences with Sarfraz Naeemi but no one could deny his services for the propagation of Islam and unity among Muslims. He expressed hope that Jamia Naeemia would continue the mission of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi. He said that the deceased always challenged dictators and the US. He said that durable peace could not be established in the country without stopping the military operation.
