Boy tops in gals dominated result

ISLAMABAD - The pass percentage of Class X examination result has remained 77. 25, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) declared on Friday.
Girls outran boys with pass percentage 83.99. A total of 77539 candidates, including regular and private, appeared in the Secondary School Certificate Annual Examination 2014 and of them 59899 were declared successful.
A total of 43,743 boys sat in the exam and 31,513 passed while 28,386, out of 3379 6, girls passed.
Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry Secretary Muhammad Ahsan Raja announced the result and congratulated the girls for outperforming boys. FBISE Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik and other officials were present on the occasion.
Hamza Siddique of Army Public School and College Bahawalpur Cantt topped with 1031 out of 1050 marks, followed by Miral Saleem of Fazaia Inter College, Munir Road Lahore Cantt, with 1030 marks and Ammar Khawar of Army Public School and College Sargodha Cantt with 1029 marks.
Top three positions went to science students from institutes situated in Cantonments.
In Humanities Group, Kulsoom Tariq of H H Sheikh Rashid Al-Makhtoom Pakistan School Dubai, toped with 969 marks, followed by Moavya Naseer of Institute of Islamic Sciences Satra Meel, (FA) Islamabad; and Hajra Aamir of Quality School, Misrial Road, Rawalpindi with 968 and 958 marks respectively.  The Board statement said this year 47 unfair means cases were reported and all have been decided and notified after adopting a judicious procedure to decide the cases as every effort was made to ensure that personal hearing was allowed to all concerned.
The statement advised all those candidates whose result has been withheld for want of fee/eligibility etc to resolve these discrepancies immediately to enable the office to declare their result.
Result of some candidates has been indicated as R.L (Result Latter on), which will be declared on completion of requirements on the part of the candidates/Board.
All the candidates desirous of improving their grade/marks can do so by re-appearing in upto two subjects of their choice or entire examination in current course within a period of one year after the declaration of result. Those candidates placed under compartment are allowed to appear in the next examination as per rules, if otherwise eligible. The SSC Supplementary Examination 2014 shall commence from September 23, 2014.
