ISLAMABAD  -  An Appellate Tribunal Wednesday permitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to contest the upcoming general elections 2018 from NA-53 Islamabad.

The tribunal comprising IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani conducted appeal of the chairman PTI against rejection of his nomination papers by the Retuning Officer (RO) and cleared him to contest the polls.

Imran appeared before the tribunal to complete his nomination papers for NA-53. The RO had rejected Imran’s nomination papers on technical grounds that the candidate did not fill “Clause N” of the affidavit. Clause N of the affidavit is required to mention ‘contribution’ of former legislators made to their respective constituencies during their previous tenure.

The PTI chairman along with his lawyer filled out “Clause N” of the form in which he mentioned Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Namal University and encouraging the masses to struggle for their constitutional rights.

Earlier, a legal counsel for Justice & Democratic Party (JDP) headed by former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Sheikh Ahsanuddin Advocate had stated before the tribunal that an American court had ruled that Tyrian is the daughter of Imran while the PTI chairman either denied or accepted the American court’s decision.

The tribunal asked from the counsel whether Imran Khan has mentioned his daughter in the nomination papers? The counsel answered that he did not.

The counsel said that he is not contending that Imran should either accept or deny Tyrian being his daughter but he should have had taken a position against the judgment of an American court. When it is being said that Imran Khan has been declared Sadiq & Amin by the Supreme Court then there is a question that whether or not a declared Sadiq & Amin could lie in future.

He added that Imran’s ex-wife Jemima in her tweets accepted Tyrian as her stepdaughter. The counsel for Imran Khan Babar Awan advocate said that it is for the first time that Pakistani courts declared someone as Sadiq & Amin. He said that the applicant does not have any attested documents to support his contentions.

At this juncture, the tribunal inquired from the JDP counsel whether has he got any attested documents? To which he replied in negative. Advocate Awan said that in the American court’s judgment there is no mention of Imran Khan. Tyrian is a 26-year-old lady who is not saying that Imran is his father while every other is saying the same.

He added that she also has not mentioned her surname being ‘Khan’ as well. At this, the JDP counsel said that he has submitted his contentions within the parameters of morality and he was expecting such arguments from Babar Awan.
