LAHORE - The Higher Education Department Punjab has prepared appointment letters of 95 ad-hoc lecturers about whom a three-member bench of the Supreme Court issued orders three days back to regularise them within three days. "We have typed the appointment letters of all lecturers and the same will be delivered to them on Saturday (today)," said Private Secretary to Secretary Higher Education Department. The education department, which was clueless about these lecturers only two days back, has now traced the lists of these lecturers. Private Secretary, Sajjad Awan told this scribe that almost all the things have been done and the department would submit a report positively to the court the next day positively. He claimed that PPSC would hold no new examination for hiring these lecturers in this regard. He said that Education department had follow the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and lecturers had been regularised with all perks and privileges from back dates. He said that when they had been hired from back dates, they would be entitled to get their arrears in bulk and the education department had also contacted Finance Department to arrange supplementary budget in this regard. To a question, he said that 94 lecturers were from Higher Education side while one was Subject Specialist from school side.It is worth mentioning here that the apex court had directed Punjab Education Department to regularise the lectures in three days and submit a report to the court. CJ Iftikhar M Ch , head of the three-member bench, expressed anger over non-implementation of court judgment given seven years ago and ordered that all ad-hoc lecturers should be immediately regularised with payments of their seven-year arrears. As the Secretary Education was busy in meeting when this reporter had been to see him to know his view over the issue. His private secretary told that his boss was busy in preparation of report supposed to be submitted in Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday (today).
