KARACHI - Pakistan will begin its campaign in the five-nation Azlan Shah Hockey Championship on April 5 with a tough match against hosts Malaysia which has always posed serious threat to opponents at home, according to information available here Friday. The five-nation competition will be played at the well-known hockey centre Ipoh (Malaysia) April 5-12. Other teams in the week long competition which will be played exactly a month before the crucial Asia Cup in Kuatan (Malaysia) in May are: Egypt, India and New Zealand. Pakistan takes on New Zealand in second match on April 6 .On April 9 it meets Egypt and on April 11 faces its old arch hockey rival India. Match for third and fourth place will be played on April 12 and on the same date the final will be held amongst the teams leading the points table. Following is complete match programme of the competition. April 5: India v Egypt, Pakistan v Malaysia. April 6: New Zealand v Pakistan Malaysia v Egypt. April 7: Rest day. April 8: New Zealand v Egypt , Malaysia v India . April 9: India v New Zealand , Pakistan v Egypt . April 10: Rest day. April 11: India v Pakistan . Malaysia v New Zealand . April 12: Third and Fourth place match . Final: 4-30 p.m.
