Solution to national crises lies in CoD, says Nawaz

MARDAN - PML-N Quaid and former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that the solution to all the challenges, being faced by the country, lies in the implementation of the Charter of Democracy (CoD) in letter and spirit. He said this while addressing the Provincial Executive Council meeting at the residence of the party's Central Vice President Saranjam Khan in Mardan. "For democratic revolution in the country, it is need of the hour that we should implement CoD. If this document is followed in letter and spirit, I guarantee that the country will come out of the crises smoothly," Nawaz observed. Commenting further on national crises, Nawaz said that Pervez Musharraf was responsible for the crisis being confronted by the nation because of his wrong policies. He further said that Musharraf's acts were unpardonable and he will have to face the music for their unconstitutional steps. "There is no doubt that none, except Pervez Musharraf, is responsible for the current crisis because of his wrong polices, especially in the backdrop of NWFP. It was Musharraf, the ex-general, who had not only bulldozed all the democratic institutions of the country, but also placed the serving Chief Justice under house arrest along with his other colleagues for the first time in the country's history," he said. While talking of the restoration of the deposed judges, Nawaz said that they were restored because of the people of Pakistan's commitment to have free and independent judiciary in the country. He also hailed the role of the people of NWFP for the restoration of the deposed judges on this occasion. "Either it was the struggle of Pakistan's independence or the movement for the restoration of the deposed judges, the people of the NWFP always played a vital role which is evident from the fact that they participated in large numbers in the Long March. Central leaders of PML-N Saranjam Khan, Raja Zafarul Haq, Iqbal Zafar Jegrah, Provincial President Pir Sabir Shah, Provincial General Secretary Anwar Kamal Marwat, Provincial Vice President Abdus Subhan Khan, former chief minister Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and large number of the party workers also attended the meeting. Former federal minister Haji Yaqoob Khan also announced to join the PML-N on this occasion.
