Clarification

I am writing to complain about a news items which appeared on your newspaper of 22 March 2012 under heading “Thailand backs Pakistan on terrorism” and which quoted HRH Princes Maha Chakri Sirindhron of Thailand as saying that the Thai government was well aware of the sacrifices of the people of Pakistan in the war against terrorism and supported its principled stance on the global issue. I deem these statements as totally inaccurate, since HRH did not say anything involving politics and no statements by HRH during the visit to Pakistan including the visit to Islamiya College can be and should be implied as such. HRH’s visit, discussion and conversation focused on the subject of art, culture, civilization and cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan, and on many occasions, HRH had emphasized her wishes for the stronger friendship and closer relations between the two countries and peoples. I as well as other Thai people highly appreciate your newspaper coverage of the royal visit but would also like them to be accurate. In light of these unfortunate grave errors, it is necessary, and I strongly request, that this letter be printed in full in your newspapers, so that your readers and the Pakistani in general will also be fully informed about the real facts.
